Unable to launch the LSI MegaRAID Configuration Utility on x3650 M4 (7915)

2019-10-01, 7:14 AM

I have added new SAS hard disks on our x3650 M4 (7915) and would like to create a new array for these HDDs.

When I tried to launch the LSI MegaRAID configuration utility (CU) during server boot up by pressing the "Ctrl" and "H" key, but no respond from the server.

Is there any alternative way to access the LSI MegaRAID CU?

Hi KSLEE008,

Pressing “Ctrl+H” at startup may not open the RAID Web BIOS configuration if a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) compatible operating system is installed and the boot mode is set to UEFI in BIOS. You can press F1 while the system is powering on.

From the System Setting menu, select Storage. Then you will see the LSI MegaRAID Configuration Utility is displayed. Select the RAID controller, and then select Configuration Management> Create Virtual Drive> Advanced, to configure the new HDDs.

Thank you very much. I can access the LSI MegaRAID configuration utility.

By creating the virual drive it will erase the existing data of the new drive. If there anyway to add the drive and retain the data.

Hi KSLEE008,

Please refer to this KB article: Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID management tools article landing page

Select the preferred method to add drives to an existing RAID array.
