Update X3500 X3400 etc

2019-09-27, 12:53 PM

Hi all :) I have some old servers that i am trying to update with the latest software. I have two x3500 M4 and two X3400 M3 but i am not able to update any.. I have downloaded the solution, made the *.iso bootable, and all seems to bee good, but after checking /dev/hda mount.... I got error "Feiled, dropping into shell

7bil7sh: can´t access tty; job control turned off

This happens with all of the servers ?? So i am thinking. Have tried different USB, different *.iso also one that i got from a LENOVO person, but all with the same solution.

Any idea how to solve this ??

Hi SicoSOE

I assume that you are using a bootable drive with update files to update the firmware. But somehow there is a problem with booting from USB.

You can try to download BOMC and create your own bootable drive. Here is the download link: https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/lnvo-bomc

And the introduction : https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/HT507575
