Re: Windows Server 2012 R2 install via Lenovo ServerGuide 10.5 fails on x3650 M4

I have a similar issue. I am trying to install Windows server 2012 R2 on a Lenovo RD530 With LSI SAS MEGARAID controller. It fails (blue screens) just prior to getting into the installation screens itself, so there is no option to choose anything. The error message is the ACPI_BIOS_ERROR. It reboots constantly. What I found from research so far is a suggestion to update the system BIOS. So I attempted to do so with a bios update file I found at Lenovo...http://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/servers/thinkserver/rd530/2575/2575a4u/mjprzgh/downloads.

Interestingly, in the system BIOS there is no option to disable UEFI/enable Legacy. It is NOT there. I have tried this install every which way: making the RAID in the MEGARAID WEB TOOL/making the RAID in the easy startup menus/ and finally attempt an install without creating a RAID.. aLL with the same result. Blue screen.

I followed instructions to make a DOS bootable usb stick with the bios update and it also failed...with a message that leaves me wondering what happens next? The bios update seems to succeed but when you read the entire message, you realize it failed. Also, when I reboot, the bios number is the same. Current BIOS is AMI Bios 1.3.

I am now at a loss. I should tell you that I began with the downloaded EasyStartup ISO burned from Lenovo site at http://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/servers/thinkserver/rd530/2575/2575a4u/mjprzgh/downloads

Am I using the wrong BIOS flash file? also could I be using the wrong easy startup file? I verified the serial number.

System specs: Lenovo 1RU RD530 server mtm-2575-a4u /XEON E5-2620/LSI MEGARAID 9260 8i/16gb RAM/8x HGST 1TB Drives. Thanks for any help.

Windows Server 2012 R2 install via Lenovo ServerGuide 10.5 fails on x3650 M5

2018-09-07, 17:27 PM

Hi Everybody, i'm new using lenovo servers, i have a trouble, my server was infected by a virus and i need to reinstall the SO and the raid. I saw in the web lenovo that i need  firsth the serverguide in a USB Pendrive and start in UEFI mode pressing F12 to choose the mode. In my case, my server has 4 hot spot drives : in raid 1 (0 and 1), free (2 and 3). So, when startting i press F12 , then appear to choose the mode (legacy or UEFI) ...if i select  UEFI....the server tries to find some booteable system...and nothing found....but if i select legacy try find again and it find the serverguide but this toolkit show that there are not drives connected. please check the image. what can i do?
