X3650 M4 locks up if trying to run WebBIOS / RAID

2020-04-06, 14:01 PM
I am trying to set up a used 3650 M4. It was supposedly reconditioned, but the reconditioning didn’t detect 1) The CMOS battery was at 2.7 V 2) 3 DIMMs were bad. Replacement DIMMs were sent wrapped in bubble wrap, not anti static bags. I have updated the firmware, although the diagnostics (Dynamic System Analysis?) fails to update. The main problem is I keep getting stuck if I press CTRL-H to run “WebBIOS”, which I believe is the RAID controller. As soon as I click “Start” with the mouse, the mouse stops moving and I have to power cycle the machine. If instead of using the mouse, I use the tab key to highlight “Start”, then the system locks up. I have on rare occasions managed to get this to run. I got a bit lost knowing exactly how to configure the disks, but at least it had run a couple of times. Any suggestions?

Hi FDTD

The following steps may help you determine the problem you can try:

  1. Check Light path diagnostics
  2. Check the error logs for IMM2, POST and DSA.
  3. Running the DSA Preboot diagnostic programs

Please feel free to leave your comment, thank you for support Lenovo

Thank you. I will try looking at the logs, but I don’t think the light path diagnostics are showing anything, but I will double check as I am only using a single power cord, so it always indicates a problem, but I don’t think anything other than the power supply issue. Sometimes I push the button so it just flashes. It passes all the DSA tests. I have run them multiple times. For some unknown reason I cant update the DSA firmware - that update fails. Everything else updates okay. I need to look at a log of why that update is failing - what was printed on the screen was too obscure to make any sense to me.

seem this was M5110E controller , can boot server into uefi- storage to setup the raid, M5110 should support the uefi enviroment.

what's more you can try to update the raid fw for a try if you still want to use webbios to configure raid
