Hi KonAnd

Switch jumper position can only reset the power-on password.

You can download Lenovo XClarity Essentials OneCLI (OneCLI) to set the BIOS administrator password.

OneCLI is a zip file you can download from the lenovo website. Once downloaded unzip into a folder and then using the built in command prompt (open as administrator) you direct yourself to the folder and then type in the suggested command with onecli.exe in front of it.  Download OneCli

Here is an example in windows:

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.1099]
(c) 2018 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>cd c:/onecli

C:\onecli>OneCLI.exe config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword <new password> --imm <IMM IPMI user>:<IMM IPMI password>@<imm ip>

Hope this helps

Thank you for your replay.

This server is empty, no HDD, no systems, RAID.

Can I read OneCLI on pendrive and somehow run this when I don't access to BIOS?

And second question, how ip address in line command? is it deafult?

-----

Edit:

I used Hirens BootCD + OneCli, reuslt on screen.

Hello KonAnd,

Using the command above try putting in the usb over lan IP address for the BMC:

OneCLI.exe config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword <new password> --imm <IMM IPMI user>:<IMM IPMI password>@169.254.95.118

If this does not work you may need to get remote access to the BMC and use onecli on a local machine.

For reference, here is an article for this procedure:

How to set or change the UEFI Admin password using Lenovo XClarity Essentials Windows OneCLI

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi,

thank you for help.

So, it look like that?

  1. I start the server Lenovo and boot it with usb with the 'lxpm lite boot' program.
  2. In the program, I set IP address for the BMC: 169.254.95.118.
  3. On the my PC I set IP in the same network, example: 169.254.95.119.
  4. Link PC with BMC - we have LAN.
  5. Using the command on PC:

 >>> OneCLI.exe config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword "newpass" --imm USERID:PASSW0RD@169.254.95.118

I think right? Because, I don't know IP BMC now, and I'm not ping 169.254.95.118.

I done without point 1-2 and I get the same result: Failed to connect to BMC/CMM/ESXi CIM service.

Tommorow I try with 1-5 point and should be okay ;)?

Hello KonAnd,

The 169 address is a preset address for internal communication from the internal OS to the BMC (USB over LAN). It should be preset in the IMM. I provided this because I thought you loaded OneCLI on the server itself.

If you can set the IMM IP address I would put it back to the way it was. If you can access the IMM web page then the network portion is working fine.

Within the IMM please go to IMM Management -> Network -> IPMI Tab.

Is the "Allow IPMI access" box checked? If not, check it and try your original attempt with the 192 address. If it still doesnt work try restarting the IMM (IMM Management -> Restart IMM)

OneCLI.exe config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword "newpass" --imm USERID:PASSW0RD@169.254.95.118

I received communicate, that can't PING BMC...

Another option with boot xClarity Provisioning Manager Lite: However I can't set address IP on IMM. Do I have to replace the motherboard?

Hi KonAnd,

So did you know the IMM IP for this server?

According to the current situation, there are not many ways to reset the administrator password, and it may not be applicable to this system.
