Re: Applications close on sleep / hibernate ThinkBook 13s-IWL - Type 20R9

Hi

I am experiencing an issue where if the machine goes to sleep or into hibernate all applications close down on resume. Initially the power settings were set to go to sleep after x minutes. On resume the applications were all closed. I have changed the power settings to set the machine to hibernate in case it was the sleep function that was causing it. Initially this worked but a couple days later it has started up again. Looking at the settings, they remain set to hibernate per what I selected. I wondered if anyone has expereinced this before.

Running windows 10.

Thanks

Ben

Hi Sargieb! Welcome to our forums community. Was there any recent changes or any updates installed before the issue arise? What is the current OS version running on your system? Try installing the BIOS update here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkbook-series/thinkbook-13s-iwl/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI. Try checking pending Windows updates.

Re: Applications close on sleep / hibernate ThinkBook 13s-IWL - Type 20R9

Same thing happens on my 14s-IWL. If I manually put my laptop to sleep, it'll wake up with all applications closed. Sometimes this happens when I close my laptop display, and then (on the off chance that it doesn't force me to restart) all applications are closed when I try to turn on the display.

Re: Applications close on sleep / hibernate ThinkBook 13s-IWL - Type 20R9

Hi Ben,

I had the exact same problem, in addition the computer would not always resume from sleep (the power button was indicating sleep mode with blibking, but could not do anything to wake the machine), plus I had vertical discoloured lines on my display, plus, sometimes my usb3 ports would not provide enough power to my external hard drive connected.

I have a Thinkbook 13s-IWL with i7, Windows 10 Pro.

I have the latest updates of Windows 10, applications and drivers. I install driver updates via Lenovo Vantage App.

The solution for me was to disable the AOAC option in UEFI, and all my problems were solved at once (for two days now).

I think this option is not implemented well in either one of the hardvare components, or in one of the drivers.

I am perfectly happy with my laptop, and I can totally live witohut AOAC, but it would be nice to have this issue sorted out.

Hope it helps for you too.

Best,

József

UPDATE: unfortunately the vertical screen lines returned, so this issue might not be related to the AOAC function.

I am not able to find an option for editing my post, so I submit my UPDATE here: all my issues were hardware related. My motherboard and screen had to be replaced (which Lenovo did in warranty), and all my problems are now gone.

Re:Applications close on sleep / hibernate ThinkBook 13s-IWL - Type 20R9

It was also the AOAC setting for me.

When putting the system into sleep mode I had - more often than not - problems when trying to wake it up again. To be morenspecific: the laptop crashes.

Sometimes you can see the bluescreen if you reopen the laptop fast enough, other times the display got already disabled, so you end up with a dark display and a white power button but nothing happens when you push it.

Is this something Lenovo will fix some day?

P. S. My Mainboard was already replaced - but nothing changed.

Well it wasn't, the problem got a little bit better but it still appears every once in a while
