How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

ThinkBook 15-IML.

You go to website and read something that is, say, 20 pages or more, then you want to go back to top. Fastest way is pressing Fn with side < Home Key. But why have to do this, double key, hands on pressing! Isn't there a one   button to press and jump to the top, start of page.

Example, in my old Toshiba laptop, 9 years old, yeah no kidding, old tech, and when want to jump to top, when I am down at say page 100, go first page, top of web page, simply press "Delete" button on the keyboard and takes you to the top in milisecond.

Please - anyone- have explanation for this retarded feature in Lenovo. I rweally can't find any logical explanation for why someone has to press and hold 2 buttons to jump up to the 1st page, or top of website page.

Thanks

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

Welcome to the Community

I don't have the same Thinkbook as you do, but I do have a couple other Lenovo laptops. They all go to the top of the page with the Home key when using Edge. In Chrome, they've all recently started requiring Cntrl-Home on some, but not all, websites. I'm wondering if it's something in Chrome or an extension I have that's changed things.

Try Edge and let us know. Also, if you can give me a site or two where the issue is, I'll test it out.  Just use something common so I'm not sandboxing the browser.. something like a news site or Facebook.

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

Thanks Doc. I went to Edge, instead of Chrome, still same issue, can't jump from bottom to top of page with press of one button, like Home or Delete buttons. have to use both hands to press Fn and Home - simultaneously :) I have to start thinking that this has to be some sort of system malfunction! OR believe it or not, Lenovo decided to make reading and page viewing more difficult for owners/users of its laptops. Thanks for trying to help. Have to go offline now. Back tom, good night.

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

Home takes me right to the top of any page I'm browsing here in this community, on FB, on YT, etc. Seems odd that it would not act the same regardless of laptop.

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

Hello guys,

I got this message from Lenovo USA support. But don't know what to make of it. Went to the attached manual, reference Page 22.

I would reply direct to Lenovo, US. But if anyone here can help, appreciate it.

"Unfortunately, because this model does not have a full-sized keyboard, the 'Home' key is an alternate function key.

That is why you have to press the Fn + Home key to page up.

However, if you would prefer to just press the Home key, I recommend referencing the 'Hotkey mode' on pg. 22 here: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_thinkbook_series_ug_201910_en.pdf?linkTrack=PSP:ProductInfo:UserGuide  "

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

Apologies. I read your post as if you already knew that and were doing Fn + Home.  Yes, you can go into the BIOS on some systems, Vantage on others to disable the hotkey function. Still, don't be surprised if "Home" doesn't always work consistently across different websites.

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

Thank you Doc. You may be thinking I know much about PCs, BIOS, etc. Knowledge is minimal, I'm afraid :(

Would it be much to ask you for simple, step by step guide, on how do the HotKey, Disable option, etc.

In case my system specs are not visible to you. Here it is: Lenovo ThinkBook 15-IML / OS: Win 10 Pro

Thanks.

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

I don't have your Thinkpad, but on some Think devices, Fn+Esc will change the function key behaviors. On others, you'll need to get into the BIOS screens and look for the setting. The Think devices I have all look for a press of the "Enter" key as soon as the Lenovo splash screen comes up. If that doesn't work, try F2 or Fn+F2 at the splash screen, before the OS loads.

If you can't find a setting in the BIOS screens, launch Vantage and look there.

Re:How to "jump to top of page" with press of one button?

I'm having the same issue. Looks like Lenovo took away the HOME key.. Have you figured out any shortcut by now?

Also- regarding lenovo's response to you "Unfortunately, because this model does not have a full-sized keyboard, the 'Home' key is an alternate function key."

How is it  NOT a full size keyboard?? I just bought the same laptop. It's 15" laptop, with a huge keyboard! I'm stump, and annoyed..
