What did the rep say was wrong with the trackpad? Was it a software issue or is there a defect in the pad? Thanks

I have the same issue. The mouse pointer freezes for one or two seconds and then works ok.

Hello,

 

I have bought my Thinkbook 13s G2 ITL in October. I had the same the touch pad issue. The touchpad, trackpad, whatever you call it, had rarely or never responsed to finger movements. Especially the left side of the pad. I contacted the Lenovo Service. They send my a 2 Steps instruction:

 

1) update the BIOS, they sent a link for download

2) hard reset, statical discharge for min. 40 seconds 

 

After those steps, the problem was still there. I have contacted them again and they picked up this notebook two weeks ago (warranty contract for 12 Months, which I bought too. I recommend it).  

Yesterday I got my notebook back. In the repair details there is only written that they have used only lenovo original replacements and run quality tests. They haven't written, if the touch pad had a hardware issue or software issue. I will ask them for the details and update my post.

This seems to be a common problem for thinkbook 13, 14 series, although the support level 1 says that they havent heard about this problem yet, which is also strange.

My laptop just came back from repair. As mentioned above from another's comment, there is little information about the issue. It did say that my physical trackpad was replaced. I think the physical trackpads are faulty and need to be replaced. My repair took about a week and it seems to be working as expected. Good luck!

Hi,

 

now I can update my post on 2021-11-20, 11:28 AM (here).

 

Lenovo Service told me that they have changed the trackpad/touchpad unit. This error cant be fixed with a software update. Lenovo should change its assembly plan for the thinkbooks 13/14 G2 to change the faulty trackpads with the good ones. This is a common failure.
