Re:Thinkbook 14 G2 ARE

2021-10-12, 23:24 PM

I was looking something about temperatures, and suddenly with some applications running I seen that HWMonitor recorded 102 degrees celsius temperature. It was just for a couple of seconds. Screenshot is attached.
Can this be the problem why laptop have random reboot problem? It have now new replaced motherboard with new processor and other embedded components.
In AMD Ryzen 7 4700U datasheet it is specified that:

Max. Operating Temperature (Tjmax) 105°C

Thanks.

About the powerdelivery problem: I had almost the same problem with my 15 G2 ARE and a dell wd19 dock where my setup would work for half a day and after that or the power delivery stopped working or the display signal was stopped.
Lenovo told me that they don't follow usb industry standards and only support their own docks (which are inferior to the Dell WD19).

On my Lenovo 14 G2 ARE model 20VF on AMD Ryzen 4300 exactly the same problem with my new monitor LG 35wn75c-b with USB-C power delivery from monitor to notebook. After update to last version BIOS on notebook and firmware of monitor, monitor every 2 sec blinking, off/on/. Only use power supply in notebook my monitor show video 3440x1440 across usb-c. USB type C cable recommended and complete with LG monitor. Also i tried 2 other usb type c cables 100 watt 5A, same problem... What to do ?

Lenovo does not support other peripherals. So if you want to use the displayport over usb-c capabilities for your notebook you will have to buy a supported lenovo dock (not all lenovo docks are compatible with each lenovo laptop). If you do want to buy a lenovo dock make sure it has everything you need.

Hello @Sandman119 ,

Greetings.

Was the replacement board done by the technical support team for you?

It would be best if you can have this reported back using same case number you have so the reference to the original issue would be included on the review.

Inform them of the other observations you have too.

Regards,

spidey101
