I have a Lenovo M58p and it has the Intel Q45 mainboard with a Intel 4500 integrated graphics card.
It came with 2GB of RAM, however I have now bought a Kingston 4GB RAM.
It does not work
The details for the memory are:
It is PC3 - 8500 CL7 reg
Shouldnt this be supported by the M58p?
I have installed the latest BIOS, which is supposed to have support for 4GB ram "pieces".
As I can see in the forum, several people have problems with adding RAM to the M58p (and another Lenovos)

I'm pretty sure the M58p only supports 2gb RAM modules for a total of 8gb supported RAM (doulbe check that, I'm not certian about the 2gb max). Also, the RAM must be of the 16-chip variety rather then the 8. Also, it's said that you'll get better performace if you install your ROM in identical pairs rather then single modules.

How many memory slots it has?
If it max RAM memory is 8 GB, and it has 4 slots, so the max RAM module per slot is 2 GB (this it just a quick calcule).

It does have 4 slots.
I cannot find it now, but it says actually 16 GB max supported RAM (somewhere)
I do have a feeling it is not correct: I think it is:
* MAX 8GB DDR3 RAM, using 4 x 2GB DDR3 modules
* MAX 16GB DDR2 RAM, using 4 x 4GB DDR2 modules.
The M58p is supporting both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM (it says in the manual) so I have a theory this is the way it is.
How can I contact Lenovo to check this out?
