CPU fun speed to low!

2012-10-27, 22:39 PM

Hi

I have ThinkCentre Edge71 1578E1G and have tried cpu stress tool prime95, but the cpu fun speed 792 RPM is really to low.

This cpu fun works normally with 2000 RPM on other PCs.

That screen capture was taken while running prime95? If so, I'd say that the CPU temps are very good, and running the fan faster would be of little advantage, and would only increase fan noise.

Prime95 was running just 2 minutes and  after 5 min. running CPU has 69-70°C.

BTW TCase of i7-2600S Processor is only 69,1°C.

BTW this happens as well, if I start Sytem Stress Test using Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools 5.

In my M91p BIOS, I can prioritize quietness or thermal performance. Do you have a similar setting?

Since I have a upgraded graphics card that generates a lot more heat, I replaced my system fan at the back with an 'Arctic Cooling' PWM fan, it moves more air (higher CFM) for the same rpm. Upgrading the fans could be an option.

No, I don't have any thermal performance in The BIOS and I have the newest version.

Which fun have you upgradet, CPU_Fun or SYS-FUN ?

And which model of Arctic Cooling' PWM fan have you inside?

I replaced the SYS fan, mounted to the back of the case (since it was the graphics card generating the additional heat.) You might want to replace the CPU fan first, since it's getting close to critical temps.

This is the model, Arctic F PWM: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/case-fans/73/arctic-f-pwm.html?c=2183

My CPU fan is 80mm, you will need to measure yours to confirm it is the same.

How noisy is this fun normally and after running prime95?
