Can m91p be upgraded to an R9-270X?

I have an m91p (i5-2400, 4GB, SFF) and take its components into a mid-tower case, and upgraded the PSU to 750W. I also purchased an R9-270X, but the machine won't boot with the graphic card. Just wondering:

1. if the machine is able to work with this card. If yes, what change should I make?

2. if not possible, what is the best graphic card that can work on this machine? As you see, i have enough power supply.

thanks,

Z

Unlikely anyone here has run a R9-270X in their M-series. The BIOS probably does not support that card. You could check that you have the latest installed.

The ThickCenters are business focused PCs, and as such, support that class of graphics card, along the lines of a 7750 or R7 equivalent, or a GTX 750. A card that can support business apps on multiple screens.

Re: Can m91p be upgraded to an R9-270X?

before finding this post, i just invested in a 4gb R9-270x for my M91P desktop.  Since it was no longer being used for work, the processor was more than capable for running a few games.  I have not had any luck being able to get past bios or to the welcome screen with the card installed.  I have adjusted Bios to primarily boot using igp and tested the other settings available.  The slot is good as i had/have a 8600GTS installed and it works fine.  I have a 600w PSU installed and am able to power the card properly, just no display.  If anyone has any clues, please let me know.

Re: Can m91p be upgraded to an R9-270X?

I bought this second hand

Intel Core i7-2600 Processor, 8GB, 500GB 7200RPM S-ATA HDD, no diskette drive, PCI/PCIe Tower (4x5), Intel HD Graphics, DVD Recordable, Gigabit Ethernet, Windows 7 Professional 64, new Coolermaster 500w PSU.

The onboard is intel HD 1000 (gt) or similar and I got a Radeon hd5450 with it which is o.k.

I have an old Radeon HD 4850 and have tried to install that

(had to  get a new psu with the correct 6 pin plug. The original PSU only comes with one Molex plug so \i couldnt use an adapter.

ANYWAY

installed the 4850 (it just fits) added the power. Computer boots, no post, no beeps but I can hear windows start! I just get no signal to monitor. The card works fine in another machine.

Ive installed latest bios 9HKT58AUS 0/10/2014

Is the monitor hooked directly into the GPU, if the GPU has an output? I've mistakenly hooked up to the motherboard before.

Re: Can m91p be upgraded to an R9-270X?

I know this is an old thread but as these M91p become very cheap machines to acquire I think this post will still be helpful looking to make a budget gaming PC.  I have a Lenovo M91p with I5-2500, 8gb of ram, upgraded PSU -- i cannot get an AMD 7770 or an R9 380X to boot / post.  I even tried a USB PCI 16x - 1x adapter previously used for bitcoin mining.  If i plug the monitor into the onboard i did get it to windows a few times but the computer refused to acknowledge a video card installed.  This angers me, because i had an AMD 5870 tripple fan hoss (almost the length of the entire case) working in an older M58 desktop core 2 duo years ago.

I tried various bios settings, i even upgraded the bios -- no dice.  Unless someone says otherwise looks the best gaming card you can use is a geforce 750.  I currently have an EVGA Geforce 630 GT installed and working

Only option I found to work was to swap the mother board for a cheap 30$ one off ebay. My 270 works now.

What kind of board? I was looking at the dell optiplex 990, but looks like they have the same problem. Only thing i see in the $30 range is Lenovo / HP / Dell which probably wont work with a decent graphics card.
