M700 Tiny: M.2 SSD not being seen, recognized by BIOS or OS

2017-03-13, 13:12 PM

I've read the various forum threads regarding M700's, 900's and m.2 drives.  None of them directly answer the question of compatibility with a Samsung 960 Pro.

I have added the 960 Pro to an m700 tiny with Windows 7.  The drive does not show up in BIOS nor is it available in the OS.  I've downloaded the drivers as well as Samsung Magician.  Both say no drive found.  I am leaving the original SSD in as boot drive.

Any ideas?

Re: Can't install Windows 10 on T460s with Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD

Samsung 960 pro (and 950 pro) look to be PCIe interface only:

Re: M700 Tiny: M.2 SSD not being seen, recognized by BIOS or OS

first the recent BIOS update may solve the problem and if not need to get the AHCI "N" model # Samsung 951 or 961 or the CM871a SSD that are SATA3 compatibily.

and as I've shared in other posts there is something amiss / incorrect in M700 Tiny and the compatibilty SSD's original specs since they do not match - and the newest BIOS upgrade may corrrect.
also, I'm presently suspecting the M.2 slot on these computers were never intended to be used with an SSD as a boot drive - only the 2.5 inch SATA3 slot/interface part . . . and soon plan to test with both a Lenovo CM871a and an SM951 non AHCI part.

So does anyone know if this so called latest BIOS update for the M700 has made it possible to use PCIe NVMe drives on its M.2 slot or not?
