Re: Cant upgrade RAM on M90p?

I believe you are correct.

Upon further inspection, the original working RAM says on the top:

PC3-10600U

So yes, I am pretty sure it has to be unbuffered, unless that means something else...?

This is what A-Tech said.

UDIMM just stands for Unbuffered Dual Inline Memory Module or Unbuffered DIMM. All Non-ECC modules are unbuffered, so they are the same modules, just with different.

The company had also mentioned that the mobo only can take single rank ram, and those were dual rank sticks. Is this documented anywhere that it can only be single rank? Or was that just a fair guess on their part?

I'm not sure whether to just buy the Crucial sticks or wait for them to send me single rank sticks.

From what I've seen, the timings need to match also.

'System specific' memory from Crucial or Kingston is almost as cost effective as this memory, and guaranteed to work in your system.

Burn a bootable CD with MemTest86, this may help to diagnose the issue, or at least, thoroughly test the memory after you have it working.

Memtest crashes within 5 seconds or freezes at like 20%. Probably because its wrong RAM. Anyway, Ill order from Crucial.

Probably the case.   I've seen systems with bad memory that won't Windows, but will run MemTest86 and identify which simms are bad.
