Fan high pitch noise Lenovo M92p TIny

2017-11-05, 19:39 PM

I have a high pitch noise coming from the fan. It's not bad, but if the room is quiet it can get pretty annoying. I isolated the problem to that by unplugging with case off for 10 seconds and noticing the noise was going.

is there a better fan to get? this is the stock fan currently in there.

any recommendations please?

is this a proporiatry fan?

Thanks

On the Tinys, because of the size, the fan is proprietary, similar to a laptop fan.  Due to the size, they don't last as long as a regular PC fan.   On the ThinkPads I've owned to a longer time, I had to replace the fan on them also.  Ebay was a good source for getting them at a reasonable price.   You might check that the CPU heatsink passages are not clogged with dust first, and the case vents.   That can make the fan work harder.

thank you. the CPU heatsink has been cleaned and i applied artic 5 silver to help with heating.

It's only the fan that's creating that high pitch noise "hissing" noise. I wonder if this is the issue with all fans or just mine.

I may check eBay for a cheap one and see what happens. I'm left with no options if this proprietary.
