Finding ThinkCentre PCs series numbers

How can you tell the series that a computer belongs to by looking at it.

I can find the serial and model numbers but how can I determine what the "series" is that each computer belongs to?

I am trying to find replacement parts for repairing machines and need to know how to find the "series number".

Re: Finding ThinkCentre PCs series numbers

Unfortunately, ThinkCentre PCs are not labeled with the series information.

To look up your series:

  1. Go to
  2. Enter your 7-digit machine type and model where it says "Enter a product number", then click Go. Or if you are using Internet Explorer, just click on the Autodetect this system button.
  3. When the important information screen appears, look for the line that starts Product:. It will say something like

    ThinkCentre M58p 6136-A1U [change]
  4. ThinkCentre M58p is your series.

Hope this helps.
