Re: Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

No, please read the above post.

Your BIOS supports the 700 series ...  which works fine with the latest (WHQL certified) drivers from the Nvidia download site.

Or a another less performant card than the 750 Ti from your system's Win 8.1 readme list, and drivers from the Nvidia site.

Re: Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

I appreciate your patience with me.  I think I'm still missing someting, because when I read the ReadMe for Win 8.1, it says it supports up to the 980.  How did you figure out my BIOS stops at the 700 series?

Re: Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

Please read the tale end of this tread, half way down the first page from yours:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/Thinkcentre-M92-power-supplies/td-p/2256730

At the high-end of supported cards, there's driver and BIOS overlap between the M9x series and the ThinkStations, the ThinkStations being much more capable systems.

You may want to educate yourself by reading treads associated with upgrading M90 - M93 systems.    There's a thread below under Recommendation's on Graphics card length for your system that's worth a look.

Re: Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

It's ironic that DSperber, in those other threads, says that the AMD R7 250 works fine in the M92 and M93.  I checked Lenovo's support website again, and sure enough, those models have downloads for AMD support.  Oh well.

Based on what has been posted here and in other threads, it seems like the GTX 750 TI is the safest bet:

Re: Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

Ok, I got the MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti yesterday, installed it, and the M90P booted up just fine.  Installed the drivers from the MSI cd, and everything works great so far!

Re: Graphics Card for M90P Tower?

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GTX 1060 GAMING X 3G 3GB. Upgrade is working fine. Initially got a  blank screen with 3 beeps. Updated BIOS latest (2014) available on Lenovo Website. Took off the motherboard battery and reseated graphics card carefully. The card is long and touching RAM holders It might pressed the one of the RAM holder initially that gave 3 beeps. SATA ports also covered once card is in place. So any hard disk or SSD changes need taking the card out first. Motherboard is pretty stable after all these years and works like a charm with latest graphics card on Windows 10 64 bit.

Thinkcentre M90P with AMD Ati Radeon R7 250 2GB low profile?

Hi

I have tried to install a AMD ATI Radeon R7 250 2GB graphic card in my Thinkcentre M90P Desktop.

(AMD ATI RADEON R7 250 2GB PCI-E DVI DISPLAYPORT VIDEO CARD 9C8C0 7121A00400G USA)

But the PC doesn't boot with this installed.

I have tried with a bigger PSU. I have updated BIOS to latest version. But nothing helps.

How can I make it work?

Re: Thinkcentre M90P with AMD Ati Radeon R7 250 2GB low profile?

Hi Veine,

According to the M90p Personal System Reference (PSREF), the ThinkCentre M90p motherboard only supports up to PCI Express 2.0 for Graphics Card.

Your AMD Radeon R7 250 2GB Graphics Card requires PCI Express 3.0. You may wish to trade-in with a older GPU that runs on PCI Express 2.0 to run on your M90p.

It's not that.  They're backward compatible.  I've used a Gtx 750 Ti (PCI 3.0) in a M91p with PCIe 2.0.   Since the system here is at the latest BIOS, the chances are it doesn't recognize that particular card.

The readme file for the Nvidia driver for your system provides a list of supported cards, but AMD does not.
