Help please updating bios Thinkcentre M58p 6209a1u

2016-01-10, 19:37 PM

I've never updated a bios before and this is really the first time I've messed with it other then changing boot order.

I have specs below

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64)

Mainboard: Stock, Panda L-IQ45

Ram: DDR3 1067 MHZ 8 GB (4x2 GB Sticks)

HDD: One 320 GB Western Digital, One 250 GB Laptop HDD, OS is on the WD

Graphics: Amd Radeon HD 7450 1 GB

Thanks in advance for the help! (I do have an external flash drive if needed)

I always burn a CD RW with the ISO image available on the Lenovo support page for your specific system (with Win 7, drag the downloaded image onto the drive with CD loaded and select burn.)    It's the most reliable method.

Pick an image that's at least a month old (sometimes 2 are available -- latest and second latest -- otherwise wait), three months is preferable, to ensure the image has been used and is known to be good.

You may need to change the boot order so that it boots off the optical drive before the HDD (this is also necessary for booting a CD with Memtest86 to comprehensively test the memory.)
