Hello everyone,
I need some help, I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre A55 9636 Desktop, and I need to boot off a CD but when I insert the CD in the CD/DVD-ROM and restart, it won't boot of the CD, it doesn't even give a message at startup to change the boot sequence (like press F2 for boot) or something like that. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

did you try changing the boot order in the bios?

I have been with computers since the RAM was only 64 bytes, yes bytes.
I cannot find the way to change the boot order in the BIOS. Lots of features but no boot order. It tries to boot from USB before the main drive, that is a big pain.
Just what is the path to take when in the BVIOS settings?

I have an older (4 1/2 years old) IBM / Lenovo ThinkCentre A51. The procedure I used to successfully change the boot sequence was:
1. When turning on the computer, I repeatedly pressed the F1 key to enter the Setup Utility
2. I selected Startup and pressed enter
3. In Startup, I selected my preferred startup device and then followed the instructions (found at the
bottom of the screen) to move that device up in the startup sequence
4. I saved the changes and exited the Setup Utility.

Hit the F12 key on boot. It shows the boot sequence and allows to temporarily change it. Good luck!

Don't forget to have the CD rom drive set as Master and hard drive as slave! Surely IBM knew about this and should have provided better support! Cheers!

Do you know what are you talking about? There is no Master/Slave setting on an ATA drive!!

And none of the above worked on the Lenovo Thinkcentre M58p Desktop C2D-E8400 that I have.
I cannot get the Lenovo tower mentioned above to load an OS (in this case Windows 7 Ultimate) or to boot from the CD/DVD drive from any of 4 different OS install CD\DVD's! One Xp Bootable CD, two Win 7 boot DVD's and even a Linux OS boot CD. The CD/DVD drive will blink 11-12 times when a disk is inserted and then nothing.
Yes, I have changed the boot order to CD/DVD drive first and even removed everything BUT the CD/DVD drive and still no boot up! (see attached pics)
Any suggestions?
