IBM Thinkcenter desktop model D7G, machine type 8183 (old series)

2014-08-26, 20:21 PM

Hello,

It seems that I cannot find such a product to inquire about errors on this forum, if I am not mistaken...

All of a sudden, the machine DOES not boot up and it seems that it is stuck after 2-3 seconds of power in...i have checked all connectios inside, they do seem fine...no cable has been disconnected...I guess BIOS should be checked with some professional tool....No display at all on VGA port at all....so annoying and irritating

Solved! See the solution

Your machine is a Thinkcentre S50, and is very old at this point. Was the clock able to keep time before these problems started?? First thing I'd check is the coin battery on the motherboard. It can be replaced (Type CR2032) very inexpensively.

Right this an is old machine, which was purchased as "refurbished" from a
company which purchases computer machinery from business companies went
bankrupt or shut down or replaced their machinery...There is 1 year
warranty status for this desktop, so I guess the repair service will be
completed free of charge.

I remind you that the machine operated fine but after re-packaging and
moving to another location, it did not work...thought that the motherboard
components moved slightly during the transportation..Another negative point
is that on the outer side, there is no 'RESET' button! That is only, the
'POWER' button switching on/off the desktop...The price for this
refurbished item cost 100euros...

Check your motherboard battery. I have seen machines with dead batteries work perfectly as long as they were plugged into the mains, only to fail the first time they are unplugged and then restarted.

This helped me too

Finally the entire motherboard was replaced with another one...The technician told me that he could not figure out why it gets stuck at startup and did not have the time to make alterations....The Hard Disk worked fine, no problem...So I got a replacement machine...thank you all for your quick responses...
