Lenovo Ideacentre - windows 10 change, now cannot progress past lock screen so computer unsuable

2018-05-21, 17:47 PM

Hi there.

First post but hoping someone can help me. We have an ideacentre A10 700-24ISH. We turned the touchscreen off not long after getting the computer as it wasn't working very well.

There looks to have been a change to the windows 10 log in today (is it the new Hello?) and we can no longer enter our password or access any of the icons on the lock screen, which means the machine is unusable. Can anyone help us to find a solution for this?

Thanks a lot.

PS - added a photo; we cannot type anything in the password box

It could be a problem with Windows not recognizing the keyboard, so try using the on screen keyboard by selecting the "ease of access" icon in lower right of the logon screen, enabling the On Screen Keyboard, and seeing if you can type in your password using it instead.

Also try other USB ports for your keyboard, using a USB 2.0 port if possible.

The Ease of Access icon looks similar to the one below

Best of luck,

Thanks but it doesn't look to be the keyboard - the only thing I can click is 'change password' and once in there I can type. I cannot click the icons like the EofA one you have shown above. I did manage to bting up the on-screen board but this didn't work either. There's also a second cursor appearing at times and the 'bubbles' that occurred when we had a problem with the touchscreen a while ago.
