Lenovo m90p graphics card upgrade

Hello guys , i really need some help with this.

So i got this pc about 2-3 years ago and it still working fine. Problem is that i'm a gamer so i added a few "twiks" on the way.

So i just got the news that nvidia discontinued the driver update for video card  , GT730 and there will be no more updates.

What can i do about it?

Is it worth getting such an expensive card ?

Can i get a better video card as GT 1050 ?

Will it work ?

Re: Lenovo m90p graphics card upgrade

It's not unusual for driver updates to stop when a product is mature.  I have used laptops for several years beyond where the graphics driver was last updated without issue.

Win 7 is only getting security updates now (so no changes in it's functionality), and the GT 730 is quite mature.  The chances of an new app, or change to an existing app exposing a defect in the GT 730 or it's driver is very remote.  I imagine that you could run on the existing driver for the GT 730, if you wanted to continue using it, without issue until maintenance ended for Win 7 in Jan 2020.

Re: Lenovo m90p graphics card upgrade

Thanks, but I don't believe that notice applies to your GT 730, which as a 2 GB model, would be using Keplar.

Irrespective, GT 1030 DDR5 is know to work, period, no upgrades required.  GTX 1050 is on the list of supported cards for M90p, but at 75w probably requires a power supply upgrade, particularly if you're gaming a lot.

Re: Lenovo m90p graphics card upgrade

Only version 1 of the GT 730 used Fermi.  The more popular versions 2 & 3 used Keplar (they use 1/2 the power needed by a version 1), and since your card has 2 GB, it's more likely a version 2.
