Hi every one
I have a problem with install a video card in M51 8143-14U
I installed a Diamond ATI HD4350 on my ThinkCentre and found my computer become very slow
I found the problem may came from Integrated digital audio and Video card.
These two things may conflict
I had try to install new driver for ATI HD4350. But still have same situation.
Now I disable audio by Bios setting and the system could work well
Is anyone know how to reslove the problem.
I wish I could turn on both thing.
OS: windows xp sp3
ATI Driver: 9.6 2009/06/15
Audio Driver: 5.12.01.5410 2005/12/15

Interesting, I think I am having a similar problem. I installed a Sapphire ATI HD Radeon 4550 PCIe graphics card this weekend and my system seems to be sluggish (slow start, slow shut down, cursor sometimes moves jerkily across screen when moved with mouse). Speaking with a tech and my local BCOM computer store he suggested that it is either a virus (unlikely as I use F-Secure) or that I am pushing the limits of my power source (my ThinkCentre desktop is rated at 310 watts and the graphics card requires minimum 300 watts power source). I had also just recently upgrade my 40 GB HDD to a WD Caviar Black 500 HDD with 32 MB cache and so wonder if the limitations of the power supply are what is causing this.
I am considering upgraded my power source to increase the available watts in my system.

ATI Sapphire HD Radeon 4550 PCIe graphics card
WD caviar black 500 GB HDD with 32 cache
other than a logitech mouse and microsoft USB ergnomic keyboard everything else is as shipped

Sound card for me is not really important that I just turn off sound card in Bios and install a sound card.
It is cheap to buy a sound card.
I did not try to check is power supply is enough or not because I dont have much time.
This computer is using a photoshop to fix picture. Video card is important than sound card.
Two Monitor for me is more important.
Although this video card is not the cheap one for two monitors, sometimes I would play 3d Games that the video card for me is enough.
If you have chance to try a new power, please let me know if that work.
In my opinion, the problem is from PCI-e and inter sound card.

My problem was solved when I disabled the integrated sound card and uninstalled the SoundMax software and instead installed a PCIe sound card. Now my TC M51 starts up and shuts down relatively quickly and my mouse cursor no longer drags across the screen jerkily.
Note that the integrated sound card had to be disabled not uninstalled. Uninstalling instead of disabling the on board sound caused win xp pro simply to re-install it the next time I started my pc. Disabling sticks better than uninstalling.
