M55 AHCI Support

Hi all,

I would like to know if the ThinkCentre M55 8808 does support AHCI... I know it has the ICH8 southbridge, but this does not necessarily mean it does support AHCI.

I'd be very grateful if somebody owning (or knowing) such a machine could tell me. Is there an AHCI option in the BIOS setup?

Thank you!

PS: I need an AHCI machine for testing a new AHCI device driver - not because I think it is so much better than IDE.

Re: M55 AHCI Support

not all M55 supports ACHI, some version of the motherboard supported it, while some didn't. But Lenovo did not release a document that showed which motherboard version supported ACHI.

There is no ACHI option in the bios in my M55.

Re: M55 AHCI Support

AHCI support has been dropped from -G/-GF boards on an earlier firmware release and, up to my knowledge, never restored. There must be something wrong with AHCI on these boards:

2JKT37A/2JJT37A
- Removes AHCI support from -G/-GF boards even if they have an AHCI-capable ICH SKU
