M720q Tiny: cannot get more than one 1 monitor to work (Windows 10 & LTSB)

2019-01-24, 13:36 PM

I have a new M720q with 2 display ports and an HDMI port. I have run Lenovo System update that says everything is completely up to date. I have manually downloaded from Lenovo's site the graphics driver and ran the installer.

Device manager still says graphics are using the Microsoft Generic driver, and only one monitor is seen. I have tried different monitors, different ports, Display port to VGA adapter will work. Display port to monitor will work, but only for ONE monitor. I connect up a second monitor using Display port direct cable to monitor, or using HDMI and it just isn't seen by Windows as a second monitor. I can swap which monitor works and which connector including the adapter or direct by rebooting.

As far as I can tell, the graphics driver Lenovo's site points to is not the right driver, or isn't being loaded by Windows 10. There is no Intel graphics control panel either.

Any ideas which driver might work direct from Intel?

Did you download and install the driver from the Lenovo support page for your system manually?

Download the Intel Driver suite. We had the same problem with the Lenovo only drivers. The installer for a M710q looks like the following:

k2vdo94us14.exe

Yes, as I said in the end of the first paragraph, I downloaded the Intel graphics driver from the Lenovo site for my machine, as found via Lenovo service bridge and model verified manually. I ran the installer, but it didn't seem to do anything after clicking through the next next etc.

I can't find anything on the linked page called the "Intel Driver Suite". Can you give me a direct link?

I am having similar issues with a demo M720Q that I have here. I have managed via the Lenovo Vantage tool to get the Intel driver installed however it still doesn't recognise mutliple output monitors.

I installed that driver, and no Intel control panel showed up, and still only see one Monitor.

This seems to be because Intel and Lenovo no longer support Windows 10 LTSB on the M720q and only have drivers for the latest Windows 10 version(s). I at least am failing in figuring out how to ask Lenovo for Win 10 LTSB support on the M720q.

And for those of you who still want to use LTSB, you can use the Server 2016 driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27384/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-Server-2016-for-Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC7i3DN-NUC7i5DN-NUC7i7DN

At least it works for me on the M720q
