M73 - M93: Intel graphics driver - random stop and restart (HD4600)

Hello,

 

I already created a Service Ticket but they couldn't help me with this problem. We are testing several system with Windows 10 and all of them have the same problem. The display driver keeps crashing and recovering, but when this happens the screen freezes a few seconds and some programs crash because of it.

 

The error message is: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

 

I have tried latest drivers from Lenovo, Windows Update. Fresh Windows 10 install or upgrade from Windows 7. All have the same problem. Also tried drivers directly from Intel, but they wouldn't install, saying I need the drivers from the manufacturer (Lenovo).

 

Please update the graphics drivers for ThinkCentre Windows 10, because this is really the only thing stopping us from upgrading to Windows 10 in our company.

Hi all

In the case where OEM driver validation is required and Intel generic drivers don't work, you could try this steps as a last resort to bypass driver validation to install the latest driver.

1. May I know which ThinkCentre model it is?

2. May I know which Intel HD version of drivers you downloaded from Intel support? Any screenshots from the failed installation of GPU drivers downloaded directly from Intel?

Hi Peter,

 

1. M83 Desktop (ThinkCentre)  10AJ002JMH (same issues with 10A9-0012MH)

2. The latest driver I tried was Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 [15.40][4th Gen] The error message with this driver was

 

"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will exit. Would you like more information? Click Yes to be directed to the Intel support website."

 

(I don't know how to embed images)

 

I also tried the following drivers, all with the same error message:

- Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Production Driver for Windows® 10 64-bit

- Intel® Beta Graphics Driver for Windows® 7/8.1/10* [15.40]

- Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 7*, 8.1*,10 [15.33]

- Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 7/8.1/10* [15.40 6th Gen]

Same problem here, looks like Lenovo needs to UPDATE theirs drivers because they're obsolete.

 

For me I think the best solution is to uninstall Lenovo drivers and put up to date the Intel Graphics drivers which are around .5 newer drivers from Lenovo ex:

 

My Lenovo Intel Graphics drivers is 10.1 > the current driver from Intel HD 4600 drivers is 15.2.

Yesterday I installed the latest BIOS version FBKTC1A (use the previous version before). Until now I haven't ran into crashes, which looks promising.

I will post an update at the end of the day.

Unfortunately the graphics drivers crashed a couple of times during the day with the latest BIOS version installed.

I am now trying the workaround PeterTWJ suggested and installed driver 15.40.14.64.4352 from Intel's website.

Good, put your results with the Intel driver, it should work better. The Lenovo driver it's just so outdate.
