M73 Tiny: Monitor Refuses to Wake Up After a Few Hours

2018-03-27, 5:37 AM

I have the power settings in Windows 10 Pro at Maximum Performance with the PC staying on and the monitor sleeping after 15 minutes.

When I try to wake it after a few minutes to a couple of hours after a reboot, it wakes up just fine. Any time longer than that, and I can't get the monitor to wake up without rebooting.

I updated the bios a couple of nights ago hoping that would help, but no.

I'd give the full configuration, but I run an internet stream on it and I can't keep interrupting the program to reboot right now. I have 16gb of RAM and a 2TB HDD. Those are the only two upgrades I made on it.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi,

I had a similar issue with a notebook. It's not the same machine, but the problem sounds very similar. The solution was to:
- Open Power Options and click on Change plan settings then Change advanced power settings on the next screen.
- Expand Hard disk first then set Turn off hard disk after to Never.
- Expand Sleep and set Allow hyrbid sleep to OFF and set Hibernate after to NEVER.

Please give it at try and let us know if it fixed the issue.

Thanks for the response! I already have all sleep and hibernation settings set to “Never.” The only item I have turning off is the monitor after 15 minutes. Everything else is set to stay wide awake.

So something else is causing it.

By the way, I’m using the Display Port connector, not the. VGA.

I'm still having this issue. I tried rebooting into the BIOS and kicking the video memory up a notch, but that didn't work.

Any suggestion - and of course solution - is appreciated! Thanks.

Theory: It might be the monitor giving out. I connected via VGA and there's the unmistakable distortion and cross-hatching of a very sick monitor. Sadly, I don't have a spare monitor to test it out.

I have a new one on order and will find out when it arrives Monday if my theory is correct.

Yes. It was indeed a failing monitor. It got replaced today and all is working fine again. Thanks.
