M78 recovery disc creating errors rc=9

2014-09-12, 13:29 PM

I've  got two new Lenovo M78 Thinkcentre's and I can't get a complete set of recovery discs created.

The first machine errored out on the 3rd (last?) media disc; I retried 3 times with all the same errors.

"An Unexpected error occurred (rc=9)" ; after burning and during or after the the Verifing stage, usually 100%.

I tried creating the recovery discs on the second machine right away but I can't get the boot media disc to create; I'm getting the same error on that machine also.

I did notice the second machine's DVD multi-recorder cd/DVD/RW+ DL drive is recognized as a DVD Ram drive. I will re-check the first machines drive description.

How do I get my recovery disc's created when Lenovo doesn't supply them? Since these are business machines used in a business I NEED recovery discs.

Sorry about the duplicate posts.

I figured it out myself.

I switched from DVD-R discs to DVD+R discs and it created the discs ok.
