M900: ID system info, file for BIOS update, LSC not showing info

2016-08-22, 14:47 PM

After starting the Lenovo Solution center V3.3.003 it doen't show the serial numbers etc. of the machine. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Is there another way to find out these numbers, except form crawling on the ground in a dark area with a lamp and a magnifier to determine the small print on the labels attached to the machine?

Mod:  edited Subject line to add system type and clarify problem.

Solved! See the solution

Run 'System Information'.

What do you mean by 'Run system information'. Windows system properties doesn't reveal the Lenovo ID's. And the Lenovo Solution center doesn't show them either (most of the times, and sometimes suddenly they are there!!). Which command will show them always?

Sys Info shows 2 of the 3 you wanted:

Thanks for the hint. It gives 2, except for the most important one, the serial number of the machine.
Btw: I found out that the shown info can be obtained by executing msinfo32.exe. It took me a while to find that out.

I'm having the same issue with my M73 w/Win10.    Btw, if your signature is correct, your BIOS is seriously out of date, now up to version 54 including important security fixes:

Again, thank you for the hint on my BIOS! It's rather strange:
When starting my BIOS it tells me indeed that my BIOS level is FWKT09A with a date of 10/13/2015. According to the README of the BIOS update FWKT54A the oldest possible BIOS-level would be FWKT17A. The machine was bought one week ago and came in the original(?) sealed box of Lenovo. Could it be that you in the USA have different BIOS-levels than we in Europe (the Netherlands)?? When downloading the FWKT54A BIOS I only get files with 'usa' in the name. Because of the big difference of the BIOS-levels, I hesitate to up-level the BIOS.

This is interesting, earlier when I started LSC to check it's version number, those fields were blank, now when I started it again, the fields are correctly populated.    You may want to try again, let it run for a while.

I've seen BIOS readme files for other systems where they only go back so far in the history.   The M900 began shipping in Q4 of 2015, which does correspond with the date and low version number of yours.

Please give me the full model number(s), from all sources:  the sticker, sys info, the box it come in  (eg.  10FH001YUS)  sometimes they can be difficult to interpret.    I can tell more about your system.
