Re: M900 BIOS reset

I have used rufus 2.11 to create a bootable USB drive from fwj963usa.iso. Then disconnected everything from the device. Attached the USB drive to Port 1, front left. Plugged in the Power.

It still beep, then I removed the USB Stick and it stopped beeping.

Second try: disconnect everything, plugged in the Power connector, attached the USB drive, still beeping

EDIT: Can anybody point me to the hardware maintenance manual of the M900

Re: M900 BIOS reset

You need to download the hardware maintenance manual and follow the instructions

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m700_m900_m900x_tiny_hmm.pdf

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m800_m900_tower_hmm.pdf

As I said, although you have the M900x, the correct steps are in the M900 HMM.

Re: M900 BIOS reset

I saw it in the m900 documentation but on my motherboard is for the CMOS Clear Pin's no numbering visible on the PCB there are 4 Pin's. I try to avoid breaking the board completly when I set the Jumpers wrong. I found no schemas for this motherboard.

Re: M900 BIOS reset

Look closely, the numbers are there, on the side of the jumper set. You just have to move the jumper one position to the left.

Re: M900 BIOS reset

Here you can see the Pin's (red background): http://i.imgur.com/sG0nwLv.jpg

The Jumper was set by default to 4/6

I set the Jumper to 2/4 as noted on the PCB (didn't saw it first). Then connected the USB Stick, then the Power cable and the M900 boots automatically with the two short beep codes and a blank screen.

Next step: I will test the USB Stick with qemu

EDIT: Also a USB Stick made with "dd" did not help

Re: M900 BIOS reset

There I have to buy a USB DVD-Drive and have to take the customers workstations :-(

But if there is no other way. I will report back in about two hours.

In the meantime the M900 changed his beep code.

The CMOS Clear jumper is on 2/4, the USB Stick is plugged into Port 2 (front right). Now it beeps two time short, wait, two times short, and then a long time no sound and then repeat from start

Re: M900 BIOS reset

Hmm, it doesn't sound very reassuring.
I bought the machine along with the cd rom, since you don't already own one, why don't you call tech support? Even if you buy a new cdrom it's not certain that you will solve the problem

Re: M900 BIOS reset

The zip file at the bottom contains instructions for creating a boot flash drive for a M93 Tiny, I have not see the equivalent for the M900, but that may provide the correct method for creating a bootable drive for a ThinkCentre without DVD drive.

Flash BIOS update - ThinkCentre M93z
