M90Z BIOS update (should I preserve SMBIOS or not)

M90Z - I have upgraded bios from inside Windows 10 according to instructions and checked preserve smbios.

Then I cloned existing HDD to a new SSD.

Installed SSD into a DVD caddy, replaced the existing DVD drive with the DVD caddy.

Changed boot order.

SSD will not boot unless I remove the keyboard (tested with both a wired and wireless keyboard).

My question is if I update my BIOS again and do not preserve SMBIOS what would be the consequences and might not preserving SMBIOS resolve this strange conflict.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: M90Z BIOS update (should I preserve SMBIOS or not)

If you disconnect the HDD, will be boot correctly from the SSD?  Has the HDD been wiped of all partitions and data?

Original HDD is still intact. I have imaged to SSD.
