M90p 5864 Power supply

I have an M90p 5864-A1G which i'd like to install a new graphics card on.

This means I will need 400-500w psu rather than the installed 240W unit.

I'm strugging to find a suitable replacement which will fit in the unit.

The preinstalled unit is slimline and L shaped (Liteon PS-5241-01VA)

Anyone know an alternative I can use?

Cheers

Re: M90p 5864 Power supply

Just get an ATI Radeon 5450 or 6450 low profile silent model, or an Nvidia 210 or similar. Should work OK. For others, lots of people who tried a 5450 PCI-E card on an M55 had problems, but I got a HIS ATI Radeon 5450 Silent PCI (not PCIE) model working. Lots of people have commented that it's a suspected BIOS problem, but I didn't want to take the chance that they'd fixed it and the HIS works great. That system has a 225W power supply, so a 240W should work fine, especially since the i5 is probably less power hungry than the Core2Duo on the M55.

Re: M90p 5864 Power supply

If you're really worried, there are some 280W power supplies around that seem to be the same fitting. Also, I would stick to the DDR3 models of the ATI 5450/6450 graphics cards, because they are pretty much guaranteed to be under 20W from what I have read. The other reason I like the ATI cards is because they all have audio support with the HDMI out, while some of the Nvidia cards had hassles.
