Re: New M910s SFF: M.2 and graphics surprises/problems (SOLVED: M910t with GTX 1050 installed)

2018-11-23, 5:57 AM

I just ordered a P330 SFF and decided to try the Zotac card. While I was double checking the spec of Zotac GTX 1050ti Low Profile, I noticed the specification listed on the Zotac's website is different from the you can found on retailer website. On the Zotac website, the spec of card is

174mm x 111.15mm (70mm LP) x 35.3mm (6.85in x 4.38in (2.76in LP) x 1.39in)

However, the retailer websites such as newegg and amazon list it as:

6.3 x 4.38 x 2 in or max length 160mm

When you played with this card, was it indeed 160mm?

Re: New M910s SFF: M.2 and graphics surprises/problems (SOLVED: M910t with GTX 1050 installed)

Sorry, it's been much too long ago when I was fooling with my M910s SFF and attempting to find a graphics card that would fit into this much "shallower" new case design and would also provide me with the graphics performance I wanted... and started this thread to complain about what I'd discovered.  So I honestly can't remember any of the specifics about how long the Zotac card actually turned out to be.

But looking back at my first few posts in this thread I mention that it STILL wouldn't fit into the M910s SFF case even if it was truly 160mm... which now seems incorrect.  My original attempt with the Gigabyte card (which was 167mm according to its spec) didn't fit and I speculated it needed maybe another 1/4" (7mm) clearance from the swing-down drive assembly cage.  So you'd sure think the shorter Zotac card, at 160mm, would have absolutely fit.  That's why I ordered it and really did expect it to work.

The fact that it still didn't fit clear suggests that the 160mm spec was indeed incorrect, and that it actually was more like the 174mm length you say the Zotac site shows it to be.  But if the P330 SFF case is .6" longer than the M910s SFF case, it just might fit. You'll simply have to see what happens.

Bottom line for me was that I simply gave up on my "client request" (for whom I'd bought this machine and was fitting it out as needed) to have a SFF case.  We really thought it would be the same normal long-traditional sized SFF case, not one which was suddently 4" shallower and was like a "midget" and no longer capable of accepting normal graphics expansion cards.  I just decided to go with the M910t tower case instead, which was still several inches shallower than the previous tower cases (now being more like the old SFF case than an old tower) but did allow me to eliminate normal graphics card size concerns.

So, good luck. Keep us posted as to your success or failure, and how you go about solving any surprise issues that are still unknown.

Eventaully I received all of the parts. The P330 SFF is almost identical to M920 SFF and there is no wat to fit a GTX 1050. I ended with buying a Quadro P620 and it can fit perfectly but the price of P620 is unreasonably high.

DSperber did a fine job describing the limitations of the newer SFF system case.  And since even the shortest GTX 1050 Ti cards fail to fit, the best current generation graphics card that is known fit is the short Gigabyte low-profile GT 1030 with DDR5 memory (GV-N1030D5-2GL)  And be sure to have sufficient system memory, some newer games specify 8 GB minimum, and recommend 16 GB.
