M910x DisplayPort to DisplayPort monitor not detecting

2018-08-05, 20:27 PM

Hi please can anyone help

my monitor works via vga cable to vga cable on old acre laptop but when I connect via displayport to displayport from lenovo the monitor scans but can’t find it

is it meant to work directly or do I need to use displayport to dvi adapter that came with machine then buy another adapter to connect up to the vga connection

bought machine off eBay no manual etc struggling to get it connected.

Is is it better if I buy think centre monitor ???  Mine is up z24i.

Thanks for any advice

allison

HP z24i has both DVI and DisplayPort inputs, it should work with DisplayPort directly or using the DVI adapter it came with connected to the DVI port.  Some monitors require you to specify the input port using the menu that's on the monitor (that's caught me out more times than I care to say.)

All manuals and documentation is available on Lenovo support page for this system.  Google "Lenovo, M910x, support"

Hi thanks for your reply. I can’t seem to get the monitor to accept display port setting. It simply scans past it and monitor hoes to sleep

if I’m connected via vga to my old laptop I can adjust all settings

i Have ended up ordering apter to turn the dvi end into a vga end do that I can connect my original lead

Mid that doesn’t work I will have to return the computer within seller 14 day terms

will let you know how I get on

many thanks

Try connecting the DVI end directly to the monitor, it has a DVI port.

according to the manual for the HP monitor

The monitor is capable of supporting either analog or digital input. The video mode is
determined by the video cable used. The monitor will automatically determine which inputs have
valid video signals. The inputs can be selected by pressing the Input button on the front panel or
through the On-Screen Display (OSD) feature by pressing the Menu button

Or whatever reason, sometimes a valid signal is not detected in time.  I suggest connecting the VGA to the laptop so the monitor doesn't go to sleep, use the menu to manually select DP (or DVI, try DP first), then connect to the M910x with that DP (or DVI) cable.

Yes.  You use a standard DVI cable (male to male) to connect the two.
