M91p doesn't 100% turn off & CPU upgrade question

Hello,

I've M91p, i5 2400 - Win 10 64 bit.

3GB RAM.

BIOS Version - 9HKT43AUS.

After I shutdown the computer, the power led doesn't turn off (like in the picture below))

P60925-091413.jpg

And after that I can't turn on my PC until I make hard shutdown (press the power button for 7 sec).

thats happen every time I shutdown my PC.

What can I do about it?

And I read about the problem of freezing - twice a week I have that issue too.

I know that's because of unsupported CPU with Win 10.
There is something to do about it?

a CPU upgrade will help?

Or BIOS update? (-If I'll need to update my BIOS - is there some guide in this website to help me do that?)

THANKS!!!!

Re: M91p doesn't 100% turn off & CPU upgrade question

No, the CPU can not be upgraded to one that's Win 10 supported, nor will a BIOS update make the existing 'Sandy Bridge' CPU Win 10 compatible.

(One of my systems is a M91p, running Win 7, and I'm equally disappointed in Microsoft not making it Win 10 compatible.)

Yes, run an OS that's supported by the processor & chipset (Win 7 or Win 8.1).

PC not fully shutdown

I've PC of lenovo model m91p i5-2400 win-10-pro 64bit.

There is a very weird problem when I shut it down.

When I shut down via the regular way (start- shut-down) it shut down the PC but it leaves the power led on, and the only way I can shut it down completly is to press and hold for 7 sec. like the pic

But, in two cases, the PC is fully shut down (the power led turn off)-

  1. I give a command of "shutdown -s" via the cmd.
  2. When I shut down the windows have updates, so after the updates it fully shut down by itself.

This is a very weird problem and I realy have no idea what to do!

I'll be thankful for any kind of help...

Thanks!

Re: PC not fully shutdown

Hi.

I was checking the support site for it:

http://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/products/Desktops-and-all-in-ones/ThinkCentre-M-Series-desktops/Thin...Smiley FrustratedSmiley FrustratedSmiley Very Happy

Checking further I was able to find this driver for Windows 10 (4.00.0009  - 24/5/2016).

http://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/downloads/ds003852

Do you want to give it a try to see if Windows 10 shutdowns properly now?

Also check that you are running at the latest BIOS level, it seems to fix some issues with shutdown, but I'm not sure if it is a related issue.

Regards
