M92p tiny

2017-04-17, 10:03 AM

Hello,

I have an M92p Tiny, machine doesn't boot anymore, there are only two short beeps and it hangs, seems that is not loading BIOS, no video out through VGA or Displyport.

I've got this machine used, no memory and no HDD. I have tryed several strips of memory known good but the result is the same - two short beeps and nothing...

Tryied to clear CMOS and recover the BIOS with a bootable USB drive but no success.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

2 beeps usually means it is failing POST.   Perhaps due to a memory incompatibilty, ThinkCentres are quite fussy about what memory specs. will be recognized, but it may have been doing that before the components were stripped.

Other than picking up some memory that is known to be compatible, there's no way to know.

Thank you,

I've just installed a new memory strip (4GB), Samsung M471B5273DH0-CK0 tested good, same p/n as the one advised by Lenovo on the part search for M92p Tiny.

The result is the same, two short beeps and... nothing. Tryed to perform the POST - BIOS recovery procedure but after the CD runs for approx 30 sec, two beeps and everything halts. I have tried all the above with several HDDs and SSD or without a drive connected.

Power on LED stays lit and the fan runs at low speed; the CPU gets warm, no video out.

Hitting F1, F12 or anyother key on a USB keyboard has no effect.

I do not know what else to do, any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

Thank you BiggAl,

Just to let you know that using a code reader I was able to retriev the BIOS code (sometimes 00 sometimes F0) and the QiGuan codes 07DA and 07CA and sometimes 07CE). still no luck fixing the POST/BIOS issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
