MY PC SUPPORT PROCESSOR CORE 2 DUO?

2018-06-12, 19:23 PM

Hi, good afternoon!

I want to update my processor, I have a THINKCENTRE A55 8705, I have a PENTIUM 4 631 processor, and I want to upgrade to a 2DUO CORE so I can play CSGO, I've already got a price and I'm about to buy but I want to be sure it will work for me.

My computer is this:
THINKCENTRE A55 8705
1.5 GB RAM
PENTIUM 4 631 CEDAR MILL
GEFORCE 8600GT

You can search also M55e (these models) for processor upgrades, as they share the same specs and BIOS as your system.

Update:  if you are also considering upgrading your graphics, please note that your system has a "One full-length, full-height, PCI Express x1", and not the usual x16 slot used for graphics.   This recent thread may be of help:  M55 SFF 8808: possible ways to deliver HDMI using PCIe x1 graphics card

In that link that only makes it reach PENTIUM D 945

But I have seen in many pages of THINKCENTRE that my mother card accepts up to a CORE 2 DUO E4600

And with respect to the graphics card my motherboard has PCI-EXPRESS X16 slot, with tell you that I have installed and using right now an NVIDIA 8600GT graphics card

Can you post a photo of the card in the slot from the side, showing the length of the slot.  Thx.

I did not comment on what processor can work in your system, it's whatever you can find that works in your system (or M55e), for example:   ThinkCentre A55 8705 (Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, XP Pro)

Do you want to take a picture of the computer so you can see the graphics card working?
Although with that SPEEECY picture it clearly says that the card I'm using is pci-express x16

And with regard to the processor, that is exactly my computer, the link that I envy, I mean, with that it becomes clearer that I can install an INTEL CORE DUO 2 processor without any unfortunate truth?

I'm not doubting that the card is x16, but that does not mean the slot is x16.   As I wrote above, I wish to see the slot length.

But do not you think that if the slot was not X16 was not installed the x16 ddr2 graphics card nvidia geforce 512mb pci-express x16?
