Re: First Monitor with DVI-Displayport keeps losing signal (Geforce 310) (M90p)

What is the version and date of the M73 Tiny BIOS, and the graphics driver?
(( 5-14-2015 ))

What is the OS?
(( Windows 7 Enterprise ))

32 or 64-bit?
(( 64 Bit  ))

Are all the systems the same?
(( Yes all systems are from a single image ))

Any non-Tinys?
(( Yes NeXlink MP67, Window 7, I-3 processor, Issues with freezing, but not the same issue. No problem on the Disply Port connection. ))

Do you have any DP to VGA adapters other than the StarTech direct cable?
(( No.  Only one computer is not using this cable.  It is using direct DP-to-DP and VGA-to-VGA, because it is a 22" with a DP port ))

Is there a reason why you went with VGA?
(( The new 19" Visio monitors and the standard 17" Visio monitors only have a VGA port.  That is why one is all vga and the other is vga to display port ))

Can you try a DP to DVI adapter on one system?
(( There is not a DVI Port on the monitors.  only on the 22" ))

Thanks

OK, that helps alot.    For the above question, can you give me version and date for the BIOS (run System Information), and version and date for the graphics driver (from Device Manager.)   If 2015 is true for the BIOS, can we designate a couple of systems to update the BIOS on?

Are you seeing this problem on the 22" with direct DP to DP??

Thx.

Re: First Monitor with DVI-Displayport keeps losing signal (Geforce 310) (M90p)

The only way I know to get the Bios information is to go through the setup that's how I got the date of 5-14-2016.

if you right click on the background of the desktop, and then Graphic Properties, we have the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.   But it has no option that I can see for multiple displays, like the Nvidia does.

We are not seeing this problem on the 22" with direct DP to DP.   The widescreen 19" and the standard 17" VISIO monitors does not have a DVI or a DisplayPort option.  However the 22" does have the direct Display Port.

Thx

Good to know the DP direct works correctly.   I have a couple of ideas on what we can do.   First step, can you update a couple of the VGA systems to the current BIOS ?

M73 Tiny BIOS update page

Download, and then run after a fresh reboot.

And can you go into Control Panel/Device Manager/Display adapter  and click on the adapter and driver tab, and tell me what the date and version number is ?

Re: First Monitor with DVI-Displayport keeps losing signal (Geforce 310) (M90p)

We have updated the bios on two computers.  One has not went down, but the other has.  The one that went down, all I had to do was switch it to 1280 resolution from 1366, then back to 1366 resolution.  The the monitor that went out, came back on.

Now that we know the new BIOS doesn't catastrophically break your system setup, can we increase the test size, to 4 or 6 systems? On the one that did break, can you send me the driver information (from my above post), we can try a newer driver on it to see if that helps more.

Re: First Monitor with DVI-Displayport keeps losing signal (Geforce 310) (M90p)

We just installed all systems in the last 11 months, so I looked at all the recent drivers that pertained to the graphic driver.  I saw the a Ndivia Discrete VGA Driver new for 2016.  Because I had one person go out twice today.  The first time I attempted the bios change, and discovered that I have already done so.  And so the second time I attempted to install the new driver, however the driver did not find the adequate driver.

So there is nothing else that I can think to do at this time.  All drivers are current and bios updated.  I even went into the device driver and disabled the USB autoshut off.  Any other ideas/

Re: First Monitor with DVI-Displayport keeps losing signal (Geforce 310) (M90p)

Yes.   Going from DP to VGA requires an 'Active' DP adapter, because you're going from, in your case, digital to analog, and clocks must be generated by the adapter.   Making the adapter much more critical, and the symptoms you're seeing could be clock/adapter related.

There are plenty of threads on this and other forums detailing problems with DP adapters.   But I have yet to find an instance where an adapter problem wasn't fixed by using an adapter from AMD's approved adapter list.

AMD Recommended DP Adapters

AMD has a rigorous specification and test criteria for these adapters, and the Accell B101B-003B-2 is the only current product recommended for DP to VGA.

Any chance you can get a couple of these to test?
