Need a Power Supply upgrade for a ThinkCentre Desktop M55 8808 - 300 to 400 Watts if possible

2009-01-31, 21:29 PM

NOTE!  The prior Post with this Subject is in error.

It is identified as "The Solution" when it does not pertain to the Model in question.

There does NOT appear to be any way to turn off "The Solution" indicator which I did NOT turn on.

This is a Small Form Factor Desktop, NOT a Tower!

It is a ThinkCentre M55 8808-8UH which may have a unique Power Supply!

I have searched the Forum but with zero success.

I called and Email IBM and they passed the buck to Lenovo.

Does anyone know of a PSU upgrade for my System by: Manufacturer and Part Number?

Does such an upgrade even exist?

By some slim chance, might Lenovo sell such an upgrade?

IBM doesn't / won't or perhaps doesn't care.

Best regards,

Mike Lynch

If you click on Options in the top right corner of the post and then select the option to  "Unmark as Accepted Solution", the solution flag will be deleted.

Hope this helps

Andy,

I know what your suggesting is what is "suppose to work" BUT it doesn't!

I did NOT indicate that the Answer was the Solution but it is listed that way.

Perhaps, if a contributer with an answer "thinks" the answer is the Solution, they are turning on the "Green Thing".

I didn't and I cannot turn off theirs.

It's just not working right!

Give it a try and see if you can turn it off, I cannot get it to go away.

The Option to turn it off doesn't even appear under the Option Indicator.

What it does do however is relegate the Original Post to "never never land" which means NO ONE READS THE POST JUST FOCUSES ON WHAT THEY HAVE SAID!

An answer for the wrong Machine is determined to be the "SOLUTION" and once that is done, it cannot be undone and if you rePOST the Original Question we go "round and round" defending the System that does not work!

WOW!  Perhaps I should try and get another Sign-In Name and rePost under that just changing the words a little so perhaps someone will read it again and NOT assume that the Post has been answered with the "FINAL - FOREVER - SOLUTION!

Yikes, It really doesn't matter does it?

O' Well - perhaps in another life.

Why bother.

Best regards,

Mike Lynch

On the System service parts - ThinkCentre M55 (type 8808) / M55p (type 8808) page, I saw a 275W non-Standard Power supply, part number 41A9675 or 41A9640, that you can install in your M55.

Only the person who originated a thread or a member of the mod team can flag a message as the Accepted Solution.  If you aren't the OP, then that's the reason it doesn't allow you to unflag it.  Not being a seer, I don't know which thread you're referring to and can't look into it.  URL, please.

FWIW, I think there's a misconception about what Accepted Solutions is geared towards.  It simply indicates that a single forum member's issue is resolved.  That solution may or may not apply to other forum member's similar-but-not-identical issues, but it's usually a place to start.

To keep things simple, I copied the Subject and the body of the Post and reposted, like a duplicate.  The URL is:
