Need a bit of clarification here...

Hi, I was wondering if my M52 9210 Thinkcentre (Small Form Factor) machine could support the Intel Core 2 Duo because my Pentium 4 HT is getting old and I'm looking for an upgrade.

I looked somewhere on the lenovo/IBM site and it said somewhere that the computer was capable of handling Core 2 Duo. Then I looked on several forums asking about the compatibiltiy with the processor and they said that it wasn't possible. I also looked on the Intel site and it also listed the motherboard and chipset wasn't compatible...what I need is someone to actually clarfiy whether it can or cannot handle Core 2 Duo.

Specs:

Motherboard: Thinkcentre rev 3.3 M52 - Socket LGA 775

Chipset: Intel 945G Express Chipset Family

Thanks,

EDIT:

Actually, I read the page on the M52 detailed specifications and it listed the Pentium D as its highest supported processor...but CAN the chipset support the Core 2 Duo?

Re: Need a bit of clarification here...

Different socket format and voltage, you need to replace the whole motherboard for the upgrade to be possible.
