Need help : M72e TINY Flash bios fail

Hi all,

I used Lenovo M72e TINY / 3264CTO . I run TVT system update from this machine and update flash bios from system update, after complete and reboot , I found machine fail, I cant boot anything, I try to fix this by load BIOS image for CD (f4j957usa) and burn this image to CDR and DVDR and change boot device to DVD but it can not boot this CD image  (BIOS IMAGE) from DVD or CD.

Now, I can not use this machine.

How to solve this problem.

Thank you very much

YC

Re: Need help : M72e TINY Flash bios fail

From the pinned thread at the top.   Let us know if you have any problems:

2.   Some questions can be answered with the 'Hardware Maintenance Manual' for your system, such as:   What expansion slots do I have?  And what ports, on the back and inside?   Installing memory.   Replacing the CMOS battery.   Adding a second drive.   How to recover from a failed BIOS update?   Go to the Lenovo Support page for your system, select the 'Documentation' tab, and 'Hardware Maintenance Manuals' on the left side.

Re: Need help : M72e TINY Flash bios fail

Hi guys,

I'm having a similar problem.

Updated M72 Tiny (4004G7U) to F4KT55AUS, which went well, and then decided to check BIOS updates from Lenovo.

Downloaded F4KT58AUS - it gives error during flush. Same with F4KT57AUS.

Did anyone try to update BIOS for this model recently?

Lenovo system updater can't help as well.

Looks like Lenovo issue - weird nobody reported it so far.

Did you use the USB drive update?   Are you able to source a USB optical drive to try the CD ISO update?

Re: Need help : M72e TINY Flash bios fail

I too have this  problem.  I have a M72e 3758-CT0 machine with the IH61M V4.2 motherboard.

I updated the BIOS using an ISO image I downloaded from the Lenovo website but after I updated it, it was unable to boot into Windows.  If I pressed F12 I was able to choose WIndows Boot Manager manually and then it would boot into WIndows without a problem.  I tried a few different options in BIOS to get it to load windows from the SSD with no luck.  Eventually I powered the system down and then after that I couldn't even go into BIOS.  Fan spins high and no video.  Feels like the motherboard is screwed.

Can't even try to run the ISO image from a CDROM again because I can't get that far into the BIOS.

Does anyone know what to do here?

Dan.

Re: Need help : M72e TINY Flash bios fail

Problem solved toay,
You need to open your machine.

Find the cmos clear jumpers.

Move the little cup from positions 1-2 to 2-3.
Unplug Hard Disk.

Close the machine.

Insert a portable USB DVD to a usb port (have a copy of the new bios on the cd) and turn on your machine.

It will boot from USB DVD drive and it will load the new bios.

Machine will shut down after the new bios update.

Open agin the machine, plug the Hard Disk and put back the jumpers to 1-2 position.

Unplug USB DVD and it will boot from Hard Disk.

That's all.

IN OTHER WORDS: Bios update can be done if first you change the jumpers on motherboard.

Re: Need help : M72e TINY Flash bios fail

I am having this same issue, I have been following these same instructions for some time now with about a 90% success rate. Every so often when I attempt to update the bios even though I follow this same method, I still run into this issue regardless. I myself have a ton ofLenovo M73e-tiny's. One the ones I have issues updating, I update them the same way I update every other one at this point. I power down the device, moved the jumper from 1-2 position to the 2-3 position as mentioned in some of these previous posts. In my case on the ones I am having issues with the bios update started, ran and seemed to complete successfully and have even shut down when it completed, as it has many times before when I have preformed the update this way successfully. I unpluged these devices, removed the usb cd-rom and moved the cmos jumper back to its original position pins 1-2. Now that the jumper is in it's original position, when the pc is booted up after what seemed to be a successful bios update, it continuously double beeps as if the jumper was still on pins 2-3 when I fist ran the update. It seems confused as to what position the jumper is in. I've left this thing beep for about 20 min at one point. I think I even walked away to see if it would eventually do something, whether it was boot to windows as it should in position 1-2, or boot to the update disk, but neither happened. If I move the jumper back to position 2-3 to try to re-run the update, it seems like it tries to boot to the disk but nothing happens this way either. I've even tried completely removing the cmos battery itself for 10 minutes, but nothing. Does anyone know if anything else can be done at this point, I'm out of ideas as I get nothing but beeps at this point? Thanks
