New Graphics accelerator for older A51p 8427CDU?

2008-04-10, 12:27 PM
My older A51p (purchased 02/2005) has served me well but the Radeon X600 series accelerator has developed issues forcing me to turn off the HW accelerator. I am looking for a current graphics accelerator that I can replace the Radeon X600 with to try and extend the life of my A51p for a while longer. I tried an X600 replacement with another one but the issues returned about 2 months later. I suspect the relative age of the X600 (era 2004/2005) is part of my problem which is why I would like to try and replace it with a current graphics accelerator. Any recommendations or how do I tell if a suitable current graphics accelerator can be used in my A51p?

The Radeon X600 was a first generation PCIe x16 mid-range card.  The current equivalent is a HD2400.  Lenovo have two of them available as options, details here and here.  They are not officially tested on 51 series ThinkCentres but they are PCIe x16 full height cards like the X600.
I was previously employed by Lenovo but have no formal role on this forum.
I am here on my own time because I like fooling with PCs, especially Lenovo ones. ALL my posts are purely my personal opinion.
