PCI Serial Device Controller Unknown Device for WIndows 2003 server on 6072 BH7

My thinkcentre M57 6072 BH7 (not sure if it is M57 but I just got 6072 BH7 from label on the machine) has windows 2003 server
installed.

I installed all the drivers from DVD comes with.

However, there are 3 remaining devices that cannot be installed:

PCI Serial Device
PCI Simple Communications Controller (there is no modem installed)
Unknown Device

I was trying crazy to download the drivers for AMT and HECI but most of them do not work on WIndows 2003 server.

I also tried the newest flash BIOS with no luck.

Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks in Advanced and I really appreciate any help.

what are the hardware IDs of each device?   this can be found in each device's properties under the details tab.

Hello:

The serial number I found on Device Manager:

PCI

8086 29B7

PCI Controller

8086 29B4

I also tried with PCIdatabase.com and download all drivers needed but still did not work

you have to select "Hardware IDs" from the drop-down menu.

the information will be in a format that looks something like this: HID\VID_051D&PID_002&REV_0006

PCI\VEN_8086\Dev_29B7&SUBSYS_303817AA&REV02

I have checked intel's website and the latest one does not support windows 2003 server and cannot be installed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in Advanced

server 2003 isn't supported on your system so there's a good chance that you won't be able to install that device.   sorry.

I figure out my self, just use LMS_AMT_allOS_5.4.0.1065_PV fro intel site.

Go to device management and click "PCI Serial Port" yellow icon, update driver and point to "LMS_AMT_allOS_5.4.0.1065_PV\SOLinf" directory, the inf files have all the driverinfo for 02b7

Assuming there is not much difference between the M52's and the M57's....

On the M52's with Server 2003 the onboard audio is seen as an unrecognized PCI device until you install the patch. Then when you install the patch the computer sees it as a PCI sound device, even though its on-board sound. Then you just run the driver software for the sound and it works fine.

It sounds easy but in my IT class 9 out 10 people could not figure out how to do it.

"server 2003 isn't supported on your system so there's a good chance that you won't be able to install that device.   sorry."

That's a cop-out. The only reason Server 2003 isn't listed as supported is because its intended to be a client based machine and not a server. Lenovo / IBM has no reason to spend money testing it with Server 2003. You can definitely put Server 2003 on that machine.
