I am the happy owner of a TinkCentre 'Tiny' M900 desktop with 32Gb RAM and an i5 CPU (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz).
I've been looking for a way to add more horsepower and since some of the M900 tiny desktops were sold with core i7 cpus, I've been wondering if the following upgrades would work:
Current CPU: i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 530, 35W, DMI 3.0). (6th Gen)
Candidate #1: i7-6700T CPU @ 2.80GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 530, 35W, DMI 3.0). (6th Gen)
Candidate #2: i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 630, 35W, DMI 3.0). This one is a 7th Gen (KabyLake).
Candidate #3: Xeon E3-1268L V5, LGA 1151, Intel P530, 35W, DMI 3.0 (Same Gen, it seems). Some people seem to have been successful with Xeons and the M900 Tiny.
All of these chips feature an LGA1151 socket, 35W TDP.
I'd be curious if people would recommend either candidate for replacing the original cpu..
