RAM Upgrade M58p 6137w71

Looking to upgrade the ram on this thinkcentre m58p 6137 for an elderly old boy. I'm not at all familiar with lenovo pic so need a little help.

It currently has 4gb (2x2gb) pc3 8500.

Only thinking of increasing to 8gb.

What is the fastest compatible memory for this model?

Re: RAM Upgrade M58p 6137w71

I suggest you check the Kingston and Crucial Memory websites for 2x 2GB (which will get you to 8GB) upgrades for your specific M58p model.

Hi

My objective is to replace the current memory with faster memory and if possible just use two of the available four slots. I was hoping someone has done this and could inform me which memory (spec) worked with the 6137w71 system.

Re: RAM Upgrade M58p 6137w71

Lenovo's manual states that the max supported bus for the RAM is 1333Mhz so I think pc3-10666 should work fine, but you need to verify that the kit's base clock is actually 1333Mhz [in case it's an OC kit] as the BIOS should not support XMP.

I installed 16gb [4x4gb] pc3 10600 [1333Mhz] which works great but it falled back to 1066Mhz... I think it's because the memory dimms I installed are originally a 1066Mhz [overclocked to 1333Mhz] kit, which the BIOS does not support.

Finding 4GB dimms for the M58p is difficult.   Can you please give us the brand and part number of the dimms you used, and a link if you have it.   Also the model number for your M58p, memory support varied over it's long production run -- what worked in yours, may not work in all models.  Thx.
