Reinstalling M920s factory software

2019-05-22, 14:27 PM

I have an M920s purchased in March 2019 and it came installed with some DVD drive software (Power 2 Go and PowerDVD).  I want to reset the system (reinstall Windows and remove all existing files), but want to reinstall the factory software included.  I have been unable to find a clear answer to this question.  Does anyone know how I get the installers for the factory preinstalled software?

Thank you

Are they located in C:\SWTOOLS?

I think you can reset your PC :

1. Open the Start Menu. Click "Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery".

2. In the "Reset this PC" section, click "Get started".

3. In the "Choose an option" Page, click "Remove everything", and go to next

This operate will restore your machine to factory settings( remove all existing files and  factory software be retained)

I do not see a C:\SWTOOLS folder.  There is a hidden folder C:\Recovery, but it doesn't appear to contain any installation files.

I'm hesitant to run the Windows reset specifying to remove all files - are you certain that will reinstall factory programs?

Yes, if you do reset your PC, the factory APP will be saved, for example: PowerDVD, Lenovo Vantage, Microsoft Office.

but the driver and Windows update will keep before reset.

notice: if you choose "Remove everything" during reset,  your data will be deleted.

if you want keep your data,  please choose "Keep my files", not "Remove everything"

I used the above described Win 10 reset, and selected to 'remove all the data' as this ThinkPad was a repurposed corporate laptop, and for the life of me, after deleting every no longer used app and directory, I was still missing 20+ GB on the SSD compared to a similar laptop.

This reset also removed every single program and app, irrespective of whether it was from Lenovo or not.  The list of Programs in the Control Panel is completely empty.  I did free the missing storage, but it will be some work to restore all the programs, not what I bargained for.  Fortunately I saved a copy of the MS Office key, using Produkey, so no irreparable damage done.

That's exactly what I was afraid of.  I'm not too worried about Office because I use Office 365, but I'd like to keep the Cyberlink DVD software, and cannot seem to find anywhere that it can be downloaded from Lenovo.
