SATA drive with EIDE drive

2009-01-22, 3:15 AM
I just installed an SATA drive and now my EIDE drive is not recognized.  I have checked that the jumper on the EIDE is on the "slave" setting.  Any help out there?

Re: SATA drive with EIDE drive - Just a guess!

There are SATA Controllers and there EIDE Controllers,

A Sata Controller "controls" a Master SATA Drive and a Slave SATA Drive.

An EIDE Controller "controls" a Master EIDE Drive and a Slave EIDE Drive.

I am guessing that the SATA Controller does not see what is on the EIDE Controller and vise / versa.

If you EIDE Drive is on the EIDE Controller and it is the first or only Drive, it need to be the Master on the EIDE Controller.

This would mean you would have two Master Drives, one on the SATA Controller and one on the EIDE Controller.

Good Luck,

Mike Lynch
