[ThinkCentre M55] wrong CPU speed

2014-04-09, 13:26 PM

An ACPI-related bug that should be fixed, even if the M55 series has some years right now.

Approximately 50% times the computer is turned on the ThinkCentre M55 (at least a few machine-type models like the 8808-94G and the 8810-91G) provide wrong CPU frequency limits to the operating system (ranging from 600 MHz up to 700 MHz) instead of the right ones (1200 MHz up to 1800 MHz). This issue is operating system independent. The best description I know about this problem is given here: CPU scales back to very slow speed.

The only workaround I know is disabling processor power management in BIOS (2JKT49AUS). This workaround is unaceptable, as it permanently sets CPU speed to its maximum (1.86 GHz).

Can a firmware fix to reliably identify the right CPU frequency range be written? This one is an important bug.
