2 short beeps = CMOS setting error

Download your Hardware Maintanence manual:

https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/43c6737.pdf

Refer to page 78 and page 442.

Page 78:

Hit F1 at bootup, go into Bios Settings, use F10 to save and exit.

Hit F1 at bootup, go into Bios Settings, use F7 to load defaults , then use F10 to save and exit.

Page 442 is a Boot block recovery

You may need to take the machine to a repair shop for this.

Note: The CMOS recovery jumper is an extremely small square piece with 2 holes in it.

You will need a magnifying glass and tweezers.  Do not lose this item.

You will also need a copy of the BIOS flash on a diskette.

(BIOS flash on a CD should work).

Note: page 116 shows the CMOS recovery jumper, pointer 15.

Disclaimer: do page 442 at your risk.

Hopefully page 78 will work.

i have tried pressing f1 at boot with no success, it just beeps and nothing more happens, and now after trying a few times all beeps from normal startup (without pressing any buttons) have stopped but the computer does not turn on

You might have a dead CMOS battery???? -or- another issue.

I have a A57-9702 which is just before your machine came out.  My CMOS battery is still good after 8 years.
