ThinkCentre M710t Sound defaults to speaker on motherboard

ThinkCentre M710t Sound defaults to speaker on motherboard after coming out of standby rather than through the speakers connected via the line out socket. A reboot cures the problem.  It always says Realtek(R)Audio in the settings.

Windows 10 pro is up to date.

Re: ThinkCentre M710t Sound defaults to speaker on motherboard

This thread is dated, but makes a couple good suggestions.  Try updating the BIOS (use CD ISO or USB drive methods); deleting and reinstalling the driver; running the Windows troubleshooter.

Re: ThinkCentre M710t Sound defaults to speaker on motherboard

Going backward rapidly.......

BIOS is up to date.

Created a Power Profile

I have run the trouble shooter, it updated the driver. This gave me the intermittent  "No Audio Output Device is Installed" error which I believe had been previously resolved in a Windows update.

Deleted the driver and let it reinstall. Sound Video and Game Controllers now shows..

! High Definition Audio Device

REALTEK 2832U Device

Realtek (R) Audio

And my cheap USB TV Tuner doesnt work.

Re: ThinkCentre M710t Sound defaults to speaker on motherboard

The REALTEK 2832U Device was the USB TV Tuner I have removed it for now.

I deleted and reinstalled the driver again , it still looks the same.

I will see if I have sound after standby later.

Re: ThinkCentre M710t Sound defaults to speaker on motherboard

All seems to have settled down.

Setting Power Mode to Sleep seemed to be the critical path.

I still have and item in Device Manager with a yellow !,

High Definition Audio Device, This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful.

Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_280B&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000\4&e0fcce8&0&0201 requires further installation.

But doesnt seem to be affecting anything. If you delete it, it just comes back.
